How possible would this be? (living-in-london-centric)

OceanStorm [Edit] [Delete] 10:22, 3 November '08

Right, I have a question for you London types. How feasible would it be for me to rent in London short-term (like, 3 months) and work (temping, or whatever) to earn enough money to at least pay for it?

Basically my situation is – taking a year out after university and currently living with my parents in Newcastle doing temp work. I can’t travel abroad anywhere from January to early April because I need to be around to for potential interviews for exciting things for which I’ve applied for next year. Now, I get on with my family pretty well but having a complete lack of a social life up here is pretty rubbish and I don’t want to do this for another 5 months. So moving to London for a few months would be an ideal solution because I’ve got a fair few people I know there (friends from uni, people off here, etc).

So my 2 questions are:

How likely would it be that I could find some decent people looking to rent a room in their house out for just 2-4 months?

Considering rent prices and cost of living etc, would I be able to at least break even by working while I was there? Temp work is pretty easy to get up here and I’ve got a reasonable amount of office-work experience, but I dunno what it’s like in London.

Fanks guyz.
