Lauren Laverne has resigned from the BBC as presenter of The Culture Show after a piece of blu-tack she flicked off her desk hit a member of the audience on the eyebrow. The news comes after 40'000 complaints were clocked up to the BBC two weeks after the incident. Mark Thompson has stated that the incident "Breached every single rule the BBC has put in place regarding health, safety and transparency."

Lauren's resignation speech in full:

"I've been presenter of The Culture Show for two years and can honestly say it was the most inspiring and enjoyable job I've ever had. I presented the show because I wanted to entertain people, but now it's got to the point where I've made certain people angry and distressed, so I'm not going to do that show anymore."
