Cleaning Shower Heads (practical-but-boring-centric)

trans-siberian [Edit] [Delete] 11:03, 31 October '08

Hello,

My shower head last night decided to go crap, spraying water in different directions, with some spilling out over the top of the head part. It was pretty crazy, but results in not being able to have a proper shower, as there is basically a weak stream rather than a strong spray.

I have heard various ways to clean them, at the moment I'm leaning towards getting a plastic bag of vingear, taping it onto the shower head and leaving it over night. Apparently this gets rid of the limescale and suchlike. Other possibilities I've heard described involve getting the showerhead and simmering it in a pan of vinegar, making sure that it doesn't boil and that the head is floating and not touching the bottom of the pan. That sounds like an accident waiting to happen to me.

Anyway, I thought I'd ask the mighty hive mind of DiS if you have had any experience of this or know any good techniques. An exciting beginning to the weekend, eh?
