Job Dilemma

hectorious [Edit] [Delete] 15:24, 15 October '08

I have to decide between two jobs and my head is dizzy from all the thinking. I'd really appreciate impartial advice...

The situation is this:

In January of this year I moved from a job I really enjoyed into my current job, which I don't particularly enjoy, because of two reasons: number one being money, and number two being that my current job is in music.

A couple of months ago my manager/friend from my old job, at the BBC, got promoted. He called me up and asked me to apply for his post that he was leaving - basically I would in effect earn a promotion from my old job.

All that is great, but - the reason I enjoyed the BBC job so much was because of the people there. Since I have left, several of the people have also left, and my best friend there is the one who has been promoted. No more messing around every afternoon, then... So if I go back, there is a good chance that it won't be anywhere near as enjoyable as before.

Anyway, I applied and I have an interview on Friday. But I don't know if I should go. The new job will be more money, a better job, but outside of music and with little prospect of furthering my career. My current job is dull, but can teach me a lot about the music industry and potentially has prospects.

So, is it better to go to the new job because I can't decide what's best, or stay in my current job because I can't decide what's best?

Oh, the stress.
