How much do you know about your past though?

I was thinking, my fathers side is a bit hazy as i haven't really been able to ask him, due to his adsence and my grandparents passed away some ime ago too.

My mother aswell, is American and she was bought over to this country as a child and her mum offloaded her to her own grandmother who knew nothing of my mothers father. It wasn't until my sister was born that mu mum found out she had 2 brothers in America still (can't track them down). So i have all of this extended family out there and i don't even know them...
