digital camera advice

soapy [Edit] [Delete] 21:56, 28 July '08

I currently have an old Sony DSC-P10. It's ok but it doesn't really focus properly anymore (not sure why that it)
It's got a few options for taking photos in different conditions, but it's still pretty much a point and click affair.

I'm thinking that as a present to myself if I get the job I'm being interviewed for next week, and to start uni with a slightly more 'serious' camera.

For a budget entry level introduction to the world of proper grown up cameras (DSLRs) does anyone know if this Nikon D40 is a good place to start?

I don't need a gazillion options and professional hyperfocus more something for a keen amateur to get on with.
