The Dark Knight - Whats the appeal? *spoilers*

beautiful_balloon [Edit] [Delete] 18:28, 26 July '08

So i've just got back from watching it and I have one question -

How could a film so blatantly lacking in emotional connection or resonance be recieved so positively, let alone be number 1 in IMDB?

Firstly, Christian Bale is required to do no acting beyond a slightly gruff voice, while Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine stretch themselves just enough to reach out and take the pay cheque, both of them totally redundant.

The film thinks its good in the same way that a 14 year old boy thinks Vroooming a Matchbox Ferrari around the living room is good - explosions! guns! Look, its dark and raining so the films like, really dark too! don't you get it? And watching it left me with the same pointless emptiness as watching Die Hard 4.0 or Godzilla

I don't see why it is so exalted in popular opinion, or how it is different to any other generic soulless summer blockbuster

the only redeeming features in my opinion was Heath Ledgers performance, he genuinely lit up the screen, but everything else was total garbage

Donkey Punch is better
