Six-a-side Cricket Failure
Feel my pain. And frankly, explain why I still feel so upset about this.
My bank holiday was spent organising and participating in Dunton Bassett Cricket Club's Super Sixes tournament. For the third year running ( as Matthew Hayden's Face CC in '05, The Robert Key Memorial 2nd XI last year, and Jimmy Anderson's Pick & Six this year) my brothers, our two cousins and the honouring Pickering for the day (Rob of computerman5 DiS user fame) managed to cruise to the final, only to lose by 5 runs.
I'm a batsman. I got to bat once and racked up the runs, even the inevitable horror of me, the one non-bowler, bowling one over per game (as per the rules) was not an issue, I bowled surprisingly well, until the final. People had be heard to suggest I bowl for the 2nd XI. Until the final. 27 runs off the over. We lost by 5.
In my defence, my brothers are monsters and should've picked off the runs, and the second best of our bowlers had a shocker and was hit for 19. But i feel hollow today still. :(
Still, I accidentally managed to play Gallows on the tannoy much to many peoples confusion. This made me happy. Plus we came out to that music from The Phantom Menace that plays when the big ending light saber effort is going off. Woot.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, my kittens are jumping out of their pen now, and one of the house cats sneakily followed me into the basement to reclaim his play house that had been given to the kittens and their mother. Without his permission to be fair, I'd be the same. KITTENS!
