English / Spanish club football

MEGAtron [Edit] [Delete] 22:55, 5 April '07

Impressive result from Spurs tonight, despite losing. I only saw the last 30 minutes and they looked as average as they always do in the league. It is an impressive result because Sevilla are still very much in the Spanish league championship hunt with nearly 30 games gone. They are 2nd only 2 points because the leaders Barcelona. Spurs are sixth in our league and 30 points behind the leaders.

Sure you know all this already, but what does this say about the difference between English and Spanish club football at the moment? I am very aware there are only 3 or 4 UK players in each of the Liverpool and Manchester United teams that played this week - same, it seems with Spurs - but that isn't really my point. (How many Spanish players in Sevilla?)

The top 3 teams in England are still in the Champions Legaue whereas the top 2 in Spain from last year were knocked out, and the challengers for this years competition have trouble beating Spurs, without conceding a, very problematic, away goal in the UEFA cup.

Am I making too much of this?
