and do you like them more because of it, or would you rather enjoy things which are distant from your life? Personally, all my favourite things are things which seem most 'real' to me, ie most like my life and how I feel about things.

This is inspired by the fact that I've just read Jeffrey Brown's graphic novel 'Clumsy', and it was quite shocking how close it is to my thoughts and experiences, and I love it. My other favourite things I've had this with have been High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, and the songs of Hefner.
