I read this a few months ago and it really had a big impact on me, an incredibly interesting and insightful account of the American underground scene in the 80s, from Black Flag to Dinosaur Jr. Really can't recommend it enough...

but what I was really wondering was if anyone had any recommendations of anything similar; not necessarily about the same kind of music, just well written accounts of a particular scene. Or any good music books in general, really?
