Well general advice.

So, our old Sony 25" is finally coming to the end of its life at the somewhat early age of 16 and mum says she needs a new one.

However, from somewhere she's got the idea that she needs a flat screen model which is HD ready, even though she doesn't have a clue what HDTV is, and she only wants a flat one because she thinks it will be smaller, even though the 'big' part of the TV is the screen, FFS, as the tube bit is just stuck in an alcove.

*sigh*

So, has anyone recently acquired a new telly of that sort of size for a decently low cost and can give me some recommendations for Christmas?
