Tropicana vs. Supermarket Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 13:46, 16 October '06

So, is there something suspect about Tropicana?

1 litre of Tropicana with bits: £1.69
1 litre of freshly squeezed orange juice: £1.95 (local Tesco's), £2.15 (local Sainsbury's).

Tropicana: still counting as a portion of fruit and veg, ingredients 100% squeezed oranges, not made from concentrate, lasts up to 5 days (refridgerated).

Own brand freshly squeezed: counts as a portion of fruit and veg, ingredients 100% freshly squeezed oranges (at source), not made from concentrate, lasts up to 2 days (refridgerated).

So why does Tropicana last so much longer yet has no preservatives and was (supposedly) squeezed out of the oranges a longer time ago? It's tricky.

Logic says that Tropicana is the less 'good' because it's big brand stuff and doesn't have that 'freshly' in the title, lasts longer and costs less...Does it? Huh?
