how do YOU do it?

if i'm with a friend, meeting their friends, i usually wait for them to introduce us to each other. is this wrong?

i only realised this is what i do, after i went to america.
over there, they all introduce themselves individually to each other, in a line pretty much, shaking hands. i just... found this weird. and didn't realise this is what happened and so remained unintroduced at least once (as then it went too far for me to be like, i'm sarah)
am i weird? or is it a irish/english thing? how do YOU do it?
