Lunch with Prole: "I'm 27 I'm a pop star" - why do they lie about their age?
Alex Kapranos 'exploded' on the scene in 2004 as an energetic 27 year old. Two years later he seems to be aged 34 from what I've read. It seems this is not uncommon and also an age old topic - (im retro, maaaaan) - why are people so scared about people knowing their real age?
Do they think it will make them seem rubbish and old and therefore should be left out next to the bins or are they scared 'young people' won't think they're cool? When I was 17 I was always fascinated by what older people had to say to me, so long as they weren't sex criminals or Jehovah Witnesses. Even in other industries it seems almost vulgar to be over 24 - what the hell would happen if you were 47 and wrote one of the most beautifully crafted pieces or prose or the most life affirming heart wrenching melody? Would you have to lay down and die and bury your ideas along with you because you weren't young and you didn't want to 'do a Kapranos'?
Justin Hawkins has 3 official ages.
