Inspired by certain comments in the "sick of sexism" bag of worms I opened on the music board, I'm curious what people find most attractive in members of the opposite sex. Not just sexiness but everything.

Basically, even in an indie / slightly higher brow world of things, are we all just about physical appearances? As much as Cat Power warms my heart and I wanna hold her hand, I can't work out whether the fact she is physically attractive biasses me subconciously, not thay I knew what she looked like for the first year of her taking my breath away.

What I was getting at in the discussion on the music boards was is there an escalation of objectification of people (of both sexes) through encroching norms in music and because of our international obsession with celebrity culture and social networking, and such the like. I do, personally, think things are getting very wrong when we can't run a news story on Isobel Campbell without comments like "I would" being acceptable or threads about Peaches Geldof saying something silly turning into "isn't she a chubber"
