Your mum
What did your parents listen to when you were an impressionable teenager? Did it have a big influence on you? Did it turn you against what they were listening to, or towards it? Are you now stuck in the 70's? Or for the young 'uns, the 80's? Do you look back years later, and realise that they were right in the first place - and you were just being an objectionable teenager?
I was fed a diet of Teddy Pendergrass, George Benson and Mozart until the age of 10. Then came along my stepdad, who introduced us to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the like. Twenty years later, and I felt quite proud that I was able to introduce stepdad to the Mars Volta, and he really liked it.
What are other people's experiences with the oldies and their subsequent taste in music?
