I saw a particularly fat dog this morning and it occured to me that it might be pregnant. It wasn't on a lead and running slightly behind it was another dog. Now they weren't the same breed and I'm not big on names but one was a labrador kind of dog and the other one was brown, white and black and a bit fluffy. They were roughly the same size. It lead me to think, what breed of dogs will happily mate with each other? Apart from the logistics of it could a St Bernard mate with a Yorkshire Terrier? Obviously the terrier is going to struggle when it comes to the act but could you artificially inseminate them?

I know nothing about these things so, instead of consulting a veterinary student I know, I thought I'd head straight to the top and ask you guys.

Feel free to think up funny names for new breeds of dog and lead this off on other mildly amusing tangents as you guys are wont to do.
