We saw seals, puffins, chairs, chapels, sunken ships, and despite what I had thought, orkney, or more specifically St margerets hope on orkney, has a "thriving" indy music scene.
We saw a "gypsy punk" band from new york called the luminescent orchestrii. "3 violins, a resonator guitar and a double bass making noise" or something like that.
They were really quite good (www.lumii.org). I bought their cd. I also got a t shirt from scapa flow which says "Idiots! I said subtle retreat not scuttle the fleet !". I found this semi amusing.

Has anything noteworthy (apart from the obvious) happened in the week ive been gone ?
