my laptop broke.
it was quiet a good spec, amd 64bit processor, 60gb, 512mb, dvd rewriter combo, nvidia graphics(i think this is what killed it). paid 700/800 when i got it 2 years ago.

now, do i go for another windows based pc/lap or take the plunge and try mac?
i bought the laptop for uni when i was there doing computers:network admin, so i really HAD to have win based pc fo the applications i needed to run. these days, all i'll need a computer for is web surfing(dis and MySpace), msn, music/pic storage and pic manipulation.
price IS a factor. i'm skint. so 700ish will be my limit.
another factor is software. i've always had pc so i know where i can get software to use for them but mac is completely alien to me. how easy is it to get *cough* free *cough* software?
anything else i should think of?
