Welsh speaking (/singing) Hackney-based 21 year old red haired male hydraulisist wanted
Failing that, absolutely anyone based in London who wants to have fun and start something that has no chance of logically working but nonetheless continues to somehow achieve some level of manic brilliance will suffice. As everyone responding to previous ads on here has been nothing but an externally pleasant waster of time, it would be nice if the responder could do something besides say yes and move on. Being influenced by someone or something is important, who or what that is is not.
I have these past seven days been listening to: The Avalanches, The Mountain Goats, Lucinda Williams, Lady Sovereign, Charalambides, Jim O'Rourke, Black Dice, The Shins, Laura Nyro, Bob Drake, The White Stripes and Neutral Milk Hotel.
I have the following:
4 happy guitars arguing over which tuning is the best
3 intentionally misused harmonicas
1 magical ukulele with hula-girl picture and "Made in China" sticker
1 ancient, neglected banjo mandolin
1 drum machine (+/- distortion pedal)
1 temperamental, tiltable, random noise producing Casio SA5
1 window shattering recorder
1 cordless triangle
1 beginner's trumpet
various pieces of supercussion
lyrics (usually on loan to other bands but working towards selfishness) and stories
I would like:
Someone who can play something (well, badly, doesn't really matter (even if it's saucepans and badly)) and who isn't scared to argue about what's created and do something unusual. Someone who is based in or near London. Someone who likes at least slightly different things to me (incompatibility is good).
Most importantly someone nice and jokingly pretentious who has the time to meet up at least once every two weeks to have relaxed fun making noises and hopefully recording something and putting on shows.
I am male, 23 years old, based in Croxley (on the tube so can go anywhere in the city, have car also) and have one of those unmusical MySpace things at http://www.myspace.com/jellyfilip . I mostly play guitar, giving occasional lessons so am not horribly bad, and like singing Carly Simon songs when no one is looking.
I really couldn't care less what type of music people want to play as long as it's original and good. I just want to do something before I'm tempted into joining a garage rock band or such (I've had offers). I don't think you want another one of those springing up. This will be my final attempt anyway.
If genuinely interested in giving something a go, please get in touch below here, via a PM, through MySpace or through the email address posted on my DiS profile. I also MSN with sleepyjellyfish@hotmail.com if you like that sort of thing best.
Sorry for dragging on.
