Idiosyncratic Singer-Songwriter Wants Band.
The poster:
23 year old singer-songwriter - likes acoustic guitars, dislikes blandness. Not been gigging too long but doing okay. Known to the UK antifolk scene. Not a technically great (or even good) singer or guitarist but makes up for it in energy, stage presence and originality. Extremely unusual/strong lyrics.
Influences:
Nick Cave, B & S, Billy Bragg, Pogues, a DIY ethic, lo-fi, antifolk, acoustic punk
Looking For:
A band of some kind, obviously. Quite open on specifics.
The following would be nice:
A lead guitarist who's good at playing along to other people's songs and doesn't want to play 20 minute solos.
Someone who plays a violin/viola or other stringed instrument
A bass player
A percussionist of some description
A pianist or keyboardist
Anyone who can do Flaming Lips/Mercury Rev-esque wizardry.
3 gospel style backing singers'd be useful but not essential.
Whilst musical ability is seldom a bad thing I'm much more worried about enthusiasm, ideas and a desire to ensure that both you and the audience have fun.
