Drummer & bassist wanted for synth-based shoegaze/post-punk stuff
You The Living are currently looking to acquire a rhythm section so we can actually play our material live. As much as we'd love to be Cocteau Twins, having a live drummer is just that extra bit more exciting, right? Okay, here's what we're after:
Bassist: You'll own a few pedals. You'll become weak at the knees at the sound of cacophonous fuzz. You'll preferably enjoy Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Birthday Party, Einsturzende Neubauten, Killing Joke, The Cure (Fascination Street, yeah? We want some of that) and anything that's practically drenched in reverb.
Drummer: Less is more - unless you have some electronic pads kicking around, in which case, MORE is more. You'll find drumming along to Kraftwerk to be a pleasure rather than a chore and you think whacking your snare through an '80s reverb unit and cranking everything to high heaven is a FANTASTIC idea. We'd much rather have Lol Tolhurst than Mike Portnoy.
Us: We're a Camden-based duo who make guitar-driven, shoegazey music with. We like anything Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld, Rowland S Howard and Warren Ellis have even looked at and we sustain ourselves on a diet of Slowdive, Sigur Ros, Do Make Say Think, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Bauhaus, Japan, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails, ketamine and Robbie Williams.
