Apologies for the long message:

Ideally looking for a singer to work with at first -- male or female -- so we could get a couple of songs down before looking for bass/drums/extra guitars etc, but if anyone wants to recruit me into an existing band or wants to start one I'd be up for that too.

The stuff i'm writing at the moment sounds quite jangly, a few little African-sounding riffs ...think early REM, The Smiths, Idlewild, Vampire Weekend, Foals, Talking Heads, Interpol etc with some occasionally messy louder parts. I also like messing with delay and reverb sometimes and doing some post-punk/rock and shoegaze stuff, although haven't been using pedals as much lately. If any of that sounds interesting get in touch.

Although I've been playing on and off for about five/six years, I'm nothing particularly special on the guitar, but I'm dedicated and passionate about music. I've played in a gigging band and would like to do it again. Hoping to meet some other people like that really. Have always liked good lyrics too. Oh yeah, I'm 23, so would be happy to play with anyone between 18 and 30. And I'm based around Reading and have own transport, so travelling a bit shouldn't be a problem.
