I've heard that its common for certain London venues to ask that bands pay them for gigs. Sadly, an act I really like said this on the radio the other day without any rancour, as if it was normal and acceptable, and it does seem to fit cos I saw them at a venue that I believe operates this policy (think aquatic rodents). Is this true and if so is it widespread ? I'd appreciate any info.
