Post-Punk Noise Experimentalists seek bassist
I've recently formed a backing band for my music and am looking for a permanent bassist (we have a temp one at the moment she's in about a million other bands).
I'm a London 24 year old singer-songwriter. I seem to often be told I'm a dark, funny and unusual lyricist, my music's "manic, hypnotic and demented" and that I have "an intangible knack for making people feel very uncomfortable" and that onstage I have the facial expression "of a 19th Century portait painting of a mad jester".
My band currently consists of a guitarist whose really loud, experimental and great, a drummer and occasional keyboards. We've only done one gig so far but it went really well and people seemed to find it really intense, edgy and interesting. We've got another coming up and our promised a few more once we've got the band together.
To give you an idea of sound, I frequently get compared to people like Nick Cave, Daniel Johnston and Scott Walker while the band stuff has been compared to the Fall, the Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds.
In an ideal world I'd quite like a female bassist who would be prepared to sing a bit too but if your male or don't want to sing then don't be put off contacting me 'cos we'll go with whoever fits in best with what we're doing.
We don't have any band demos up on our myspace yet (we're recording some next week) so, if you want an idea of what we sound like, it's probably best to go to my solo myspace www.myspace.com/tradinginsults and imagining it with louder guitars. Also on www.myspace.com/antifolkuk I have a song called "Mother I'm on TV" which is probably the closest impression you'll get to what I sound like.
