Sometimes writing a simple love song just won't do. For example:

Manics - If you tolerate this (the Spanish Civil War)
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914)
Pixies - Here comes your man (dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan)
Pixies - Debaser (surrealist film Un Chien Andalou)
Pixies - Hey (the impregnation of the virgin Mary by the Holy ghost)
Pixies - Gouge Away (the story of Samson)

These seem to be the most widely accepted meanings but they could be up for debate. Can anyone think of any others? (and not just the Pixies!)
