Missing from DiS band index
Right then, here's a chance for you all to name established bands that aren't on the site's band index list.
I fully understand that there isn't much hip-hop in there (much to the site's detriment) because it's been iterated time and time again that there's a lack of relevant expertise at DiS HQ. Therefore I shall exclude hip-hop artists from this list. However, there are many notable indie/rock/alternative bands/artists missing. Here's a lot from me, all highly recommended:
1. Scott Walker (the exclusion of whom is unforgivable).
2. Marion (Could have been the new U2 in the mid 90s but there singer got into smack)
3. McCarthy (80s Communist indie band, inspired the Manics, who in turn covered their song 'We are all bourgeois now' on Lipstick Traces)
4. the Wolfhounds (contemporary's of McCarthy,Richey Manic's favourite band and you can see why).
5. the Blue Orchids ( John Peel favourites)
6.the Nightingales (also John Peel favourites)
7. Yeah Yeah Noh (Label mates of McCarthy)
8. Bradford (one of Morrissey's favourite bands)
9. John Cooper Clarke (poetic genius and Mancunian)
10. Roxy Music (Brian Ferry and Brian Eno in the same band. Very famous, very stylish and very good) 11. Magazine ( Intellectual Buzzcock spin off band)
12. Electrafixion (Ian McCulloch's dirty Nirvanaesque experiment)
13. The Faces/Rod Stewart (how can these not be in the index?)
14. Aziz Ibrahim ( Ex Stone Rose, the British/Asian Hendrix)
and the most glaring omission yet.....wait for it.....
15. Elvis (need I say more?)!
I may return with more, but that's enough for now. Please feel free to add some more names to the list...
