The Manchester Death Cab Thread
So what did we all think?
I don't like to use this word, but for me, twas amazing. The setlist was fantastic. It was like a Best Of that I'd collected together...
The slagging for John Vanderslice was very uncalled for in the other thread. I thought he was superb. His band reminded me slightly of Death Cab around 'Facts'.
And how brilliant was it they played all their old songs? Photobooth, Company Calls/Epilogue... even For What Reason. I expected one or two, but the set was litterred with gems. I can't believe the effort they put in too. I didn't expect so much from Gibbard, but despite his fatness, he was so enthusiastic. It was even entertaining to watch him play the drums. Same for the others, especially Walla.
But... Goodness me, how ignorant was the crowd? The only time the little arses shut their mouths was for all the new songs. I found it offensive, how they just nattered throughout the songs they hadn't heard, like 'We Laugh Indoors' and 'Lightness'.
Its also the only gig I've ever been to where people have said, "Wow! You know all the words to these songs I've never heard." Sums it up really.
So yeh. Apart from the naff, hair-obsessed wankers in the audience, probably my gig of the year so far.
You?
