Hi all,

I know this has been done loads of times but I've been given conflicting advice. Basically, i'm in a duo (me guitar/vox and drums) and we have had someone record us professionally last year and the recordings were way too clean. We like gritty live-like sounds. Someone then recorded us playing live but then disappeared and I have no idea what he's done with the recordings.

So I'm guessing the only way forward is for me to look in to recording some rough demos myself. What i'm asking is, what software is good for a very simple sound that enables live drums to be recorded and mixed? I got an Apple Mac. Any advice would really help, or like, if you want to record a band or something that too would be great.

In fact any help would be most appreciated.
