Hi chaps, as part of her EU tour we'll be putting on the Japanese pop/psychedelic/ambient artist Cuushe at Power Lunches, currently she's only playing one other date in the UK so we're very excited to have the opportunity to play a role in the tour.

Additionally this is sort of a launch party for MY&EWK so after the bands, the venue will stay open until 2 for an after party featuring aus of flau records and DJ set by ourselves, which will probably feature a lot of the music that gets mentioned in the rolling dance mongrel threads.

Cuushe

Born in Kyoto but based in Tokyo, Cuushe blends piano, distorted synths and guitars with her dream like vocals to create a sound that engages with us all. After the release of her first album, ‘Red Rocket Telepathy’ in 2009, she played with Grouper on her tour of Japan before releasing the EP ‘Girl you know that I am here but the dream’ in early 2012. Featuring three new songs and remixes from the likes of Julia Holter, Teen Daze, Motion Sickness Of Time Travel, Blackbird Blackbird, it sold out almost instantly. The EP was picked up by The Gardian, Dazed and Confused, The Fader Magazine and was selected as one of the best albums of 2012 by TimeOut Tokyo. Her new album 'Butterfly Case' was released in Sep 2013.

She is greatly inspired by dream, using her mesmerizing airy vocals as the main instrument, Cuushe composes pop-infused electronic music that is lovable and yet uniquely different from any other song-based pop sounds out there. Together with the delicate lyrics penned by her, the multi-talented cuushe beautifully projects a subtle musical world that is carefully wrapped with sensitive emotion and fragile memories.

GRIMM GRIMM

Grimm Grimm is the space-folk solo project of Koichi Yamanoha, a London-based Tokyo native and former 1/3 of cult psychedelic punks Screaming Tea Party. With Yamanoha as the lynch pin, Grimm Grimm features a shifting line-up of collaborators that includes Le Volume Corbe and Bo Ningen. Packed with hooks, the Grimm Grimm sound mixes the melancholic beauty and noise of Nico, the soundscapes of Eno and the melodies of The Beatles with baroque flourishes and a passing nod the otherworldly pop sensibility of Joe Meek.

Aus (DJ Set)

aus is the solo project of Yasuhiko Fukuzono of Tokyo, Japan. Fukuzono started making music for experimental films when he was still a teenager. As aus, he has performed live since 2004, including sets at SonarSound Tokyo, Summer Sonic Festival, De La Fantasia Festival along with many international artists such as François K, Haruomi Hosono (YMO/Sketch Show), Matmos, Fennesz, Chaterhouse, Ulrich Schnauss, AGF, Daedelus, Luke Abbott, Towa Tei, Helios etc.
Fukuzono has gained attention worldwide through his skillful and delicate sound production, exquisitely combining electronics with sounds from daily life. As DJ, aus made the mixtape for i-D Magazine, The FADER, The 405, Fluid Radio and International Tapes.
