Must see acts at this year's GREAT ESCAPE
C'mon then you lot. There are over 300 acts playing and I dunno about you, but it's a little overwhelming. Who do you suggest everyone checks out? http://greatescapefestival.com/gig-planner/
Feel free to share info about Alt.Escape events that you recommend too.
My 3 picks of the lesser known acts on the bill...
ANNIE EVE
She has that who-slowed-the-world-down melancholy of Bon Iver, but being a lady from England she's a little less bristled and American. We gave away one of her tracks earlier this year on DiS http://drownedinsound.com/news/4147024-annie-eve-is-dis-pick-on-this-months-free-map-compilation
When: Friday 3:30pm - 4:00pm @ Festival Hub Stage (SPIEGELPUB)
DEATHCRUSH
They're almost as awesome as their name. Think slightly batshit Scandi's who sound like Hole have ingested Health and 65daysofStatic. It's a humungous racket, basically but melodic and occasionally belching electronics.
When: Friday 6:30pm - 7pm @ Digital (Drowned in Sound Stage)

BLESSA
A proper indie band. A little bit like The Sundays and Echobelly, but with a modern twist. They've been championed by our Sheffield column http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4147329
When: Saturday 3:30pm - 4:00pm @ Komedia & 9:30pm - 10:00pm @ Komedia Studio Bar.
Also check out WILSEN (a little like Daughter), COURTNEY BARNETT (sprawling Dylanian lyrics with a Hold Steady humanity), FEMME (dancing! fun! hooks!) and also PHANTOGRAM and WHITE HINTERLAND who are playing on our DiS bill on Friday night at Digital.
