There's that Brian Eno quote about how everyone who bought The Velvet Underground's first album started a band, but who are the least influential bands/artists in music? The ones who sold shedloads of records but inspired no one to form a band?

I'm going for Sting/The Police. Millions of records sold, Every Breath You Take still makes Sting ten grand a day or something, and the only people I can think of that sound like them are Gotye and one song by Bruno Mars.
