OK, so maybe I'm just not cool but can someone explain to me the explosion of vinyl, other than a nifty marketing ploy for all the hipsters? A new LP costs more than a CD or download. Now, I get the physical copy part of it vs a download, but frankly I call bullshit on the audio quality being better than a CD or high quality download. So, is it just the novelty and supposed charm of having the LP and using a turntable? Where this really disappoints me is the insistence that Record Store Day releases are mostly vinyl which, in my opinion, just gets the dark rimmed glasses, beard stroking folks in skinny jeans out to the the record store that they already go to anyway rather than really trying to expand the customer base for people who maybe only buy online or rarely go to a store on that day with items that appeal to a broader spectrum of music lovers. What am I missing??
