Was thinking the other day, where have all the Crowded House/World Party/Prefab Sprout etc type bands gone?

Talking about the dreaded 'quality pop', the kind of bands (to paraphrase Neil Finn himself) that people apologise for liking. There a certain type of assured songcraft exhibited by such bands, unexciting but undeniably well made, which seems to be absent from the modern landscape of pop.

Am I wrong? Who are the stars of MOR music in 2013 that are actually any good?
