I've been recommended this band a lot and have only just got around to actually checking them out. The first video I looked at was this:

Question: Is that singer joking? I mean, he doesn't look like he's capable of jokes, with his serious haircut and his grumpy brow. But how can he listen to the sound that's croaking out of his massive, guy-from-Due-South looking face and not crack up?
I mean, I'm not averse to this sort of black metal flecked rock thing, not that that genre debate is something I want to wade in to. Musically they don't sound too far away from Chrome Waves, who I really like, and I listened to the track Violet afterwards and actually kinda dug it, mainly because the vocals were pretty well buried in the mix and not as awful as they were live, but it was still pretty silly and spoilt the mood somewhat.
Does anyone like this band? Am I being too harsh, was that just a shitty one-off recording? Or should they sack the singer? He doesn't really bring anything to the table, there's no nuance or differentiation, just the same tuneless, strangulated howl all the way through.

Or if you want we could just turn this in to a thread where people say the names of bands they'd like if it weren't for the vocals.
