I met him a few years ago at a Deftones gig and he was very humble and a great guy to hang out with.
I always had the impression that he was recovering from his injuries...
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
we saw Deftones loads back in the day, when Chi was still well. he was always the one who would give the metal horns back and smile at us teenaged losers in the front row.
feeling pretty desolate right now, was so sure he'd come back one day. R.I.P.
They meant a lot to me growing up.
Those bass lines were life-changing. I can't even begin to process this news.
I always hoped he'd find his way back.
Sleep easy dude.
is so sweet and tragic. I too always expected him to pull through and for them to finish work on that album they had started together. So sad that he had to fight through five years of recovery for it to end this way. RIP.
First few albums are going on now - and fucking loud. Sorry neighbours...
terrible news. RIP Chi. Will have to put on some of your finest moments on loud later.
It sounded as if some recovery was being made albeit very slowly. His poor mother's pain and sadness must be immense - R.I.P. Chi
Went on a bit of a Deftones binge for the first time in absolutely ages yesterday, even posted the Hexagram video on my Facebook. So sad. RIP Chi.
Like others I had the vague impression he was slowly recovering. Oddly, I was just talking about him in the pub last night with an old friend.
