apparently guy garvey really likes it and piccadilly records said this
"Beautifully constructed, elegantly played folk meanderings on this debut LP by Manchester's DBH. Displaying a level of sophistication and minimalist prowess that belies his youthful age, Dan Bridgwood-Hill has produced an exceptionally strong debut album full of twanging banjo strings, delicately strummed chords and captivating atmospherics. Its an understated, beautiful record which should see you through the winter blues and keep you warm during the next few cold months. Highlights include "Twelve" which has a darn near epic chord sequence, played effortlessly and with melancholic simplicity which recalls a lo-fi Real Estate jamming in the woods. "Climb And Descent" sees DBH's exquisite songwriting and arranging skills climax over an 7+minute collage of blissed-out guitar licks, heart-warming piano chords and searing, emotive string sections. A real tour de force of instrumental beauty, the skillfully played piano being the center point of the piece. Most of side-B sees Dan explore more guitar / banjo possibilities, remaining both interesting and accessible as the side progresses before unwrapping another micro-epic in the shape of "Klimber". Horns, intricate guitar patterns and a jazzy, syncopated drum section give "Klimber" a wonderful sonic pedigree and highlight again DBH's unique and amazing songwriting skills. This sounds more like the holy grail of a band that's been on the road for 30 years rather than a track off a debut LP by a kid under 30 years old! Breathtaking. Oh and to top off the package, we get lovely artwork by Fliss Horrocks. Highly recommended."
