using just their studio albums, what would your definitive RADIOHEAD Best Of include?
Have to be honest, none of their albums blew me away until In Rainbows. We already know most people think it's not one of the standouts, but it is. We're also already full aware that most of you have to keep up this silly pretence that Kid A's their finest work since most polls, even Channel 4, frequently champion OK Computer and The Bends.
What are your Radiohead standards, though, BY RECORD PLEASE. If you had to whittle down their body of work to leave just the absolute essentials, which tracks would you pick? ORIGINAL STUDIO ALBUMS ONLY, please, or else we'll be here all fucking day.
For me, and string me up for being wrong if you must, i just like the better songs. Anything with too much guitar, too many beeps, bloops, all that shite, and generally anything lacking melody, NAH, bin it.
I can get it down to 27 tracks from the 8 albums.
PABLO HONEY
1) Creep
2) Thinking About You
THE BENDS
3) High and Dry
4) Fake Plastic Trees
5) Just
6) Street Spirit
OK COMPUTER
7) Paranoid Android
8) Karma Police
9) No Surprises
KID A
10) Idioteque
AMNESIAC
11) You and Whose Army?
12) Knives Out
HAIL TO THE THIEF
13) Sail to the Moon (Brush the Cobwebs Out of the Sky)
14) Go to Sleep (Little Man Being Erased)
15) I Will (No Man's Land)
16) Scatterbrain (As Dead as Leaves)
IN RAINBOWS
17) Bodysnatchers
18) Nude
19) Weird Fishes/Arpeggi)
20) All I Need
21) Reckoner
22) House of Cards
23) Jigsaw Falling Into Place
24) Videotape
KING OF LIMBS
25) Lotus Flower
26) Codex
27) Seperator
So yeah, i guess that definitively, to put this matter to bed, that means In Rainbows > The Bends > Hail To The Thief > OK Computer > King of Limbs > Pablo Honey > Amnesiac > Kid A, but let's not get into that.
* let's say a max of 40 tracks, just to pre-empt the usual smartarses.
Shoot...
