An absolute masterpiece of the genre?
I've just put it on now for the first time in ages as I had 'Dagger Through The Heart of St. Angeles' stuck in my head all day yesterday for no particular reason. It sounds just as good as it did a decade ago. Watch Out! was a pretty solid follow up but the scope of the debut is really unmatched, especially by their later, Dallas-heavy output. Wade and the others were only 17 when it was recorded! I remember people talking about the dodgy production values but I think it only adds to it, half the issue I had with Watch Out! was all the unnecessary effects they added to stuff like George's voice.
Tracks like 'Adelleda' are just incredible. And there are very few openers that match '.44 Caliber Love Letter'.
Anyway, if you haven't listened to it in the last 5 years or so (which I hadn't until today) I suggest you give it a spin.
Favourite tracks? Mark out of 10 (I'd struggle to give it anything less than a 9)? Do you prefer the (mostly a bit lame) later stuff?
Next up - Pass The Flask.
