I was listening to 'My father, my king' by Mogwai for the first time in ages last night and it struck me that it has absolutely everything you would expect a Mogwai song to have. The guitar sound (loud and quite), periods of near silence, 20 minutes all in, that bit where the song goes very loud, only to then go VERY loud, before going to near silence. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it is almost a parody.
