Do you reckon we'll see scenes of hysteria such as Oasis caused in the 90s ever again?
Just watching Noel on Football Focus and the scenes at Earls Court, Knebworth, Maine Road etc were pretty insane. Given how diverse the media coverage is now and the way in which genres have merged, you'd think it should be possible in theory, but I wonder...?
Obviously the days of people waiting in on a Friday night to catch a music video are gone forever, so we'll never see scenes of Jacko, Madonna, The Beatles etc fame again I would wager.
But I wonder if due to the lack of a high street music store in most towns, the rise of downloading, the commercialisation of music etc if we'd ever see a band playing gigs of that size again and to such worldwide clamour? Even Live Aid 2 was a bit of a whitewash.
Even with all her record sales, I doubt Adele could do it. The Arctic Monkeys got people talking but the exposure didn't follow.
Dunno... maybe an REM reformation gig in a decade's time could...?
Anyhow, what do you think. Reckon anyone could cause that level of hysteria again?
