I basically have been thinking a lot about whether the influx of new technologies and digital media may, in the future, affect the length of indie artists' careers...

My main reasoning behind thinking this is to do with the way that these technologies have drastically modified our modes of consuming music; ie. lack of commitment to an album (only buying certain tracks), the near saturation of new artists in the music world, having so much competition in regard to entertainment now and also our short short attention spans!

I would love to know anyone's thoughts on whether they think this is or could affect artists on independent labels and/or self released artists etc.
