You know, back in 97, 98...sites hosted by Geocities, Tripod etc? Sometimes made using the most basic html? And sometimes, they could be better than the band official site, with more info etc.

It's weird - these days, people are not into this kind of stuff anymore. With twitter and facebook, people are more obsessed about themselves I suppose, and have no time for creating a site for a band they like.

But sometimes i miss it... Sometimes you'd find band pics, mp3s and old interviews, videos etc that were not available anywhere else... they were also a labour of love, almost like a fanzine.

But the easy availability of MP3s (officially or via torrent) and videos on Youtube kinda rendered fansites with rarities obsolete.

I guess nowadays even using copyrighted images would probably also be a problem etc.

Its funny, that back then, lots of fansites would appear high on search enginee results, and today hardly any fansite ever crops up when you search for a band's name on Google etc.

Does any DiSer here used to have a band fansite? Are there any good fansites going on today...does anyone even bother with them?
