- I'm not too sold on this. The best songs (Simple Song, No Way Down) are great, really punchy and full of detail, but there's a lot of MOR stuff that, while pretty enough, just can't hold my interest. Not as good as Wincing then, but enough to keep me as a fan
- For some reason I dismissed this before listening to it ... feeling pretty stupid now. Big step up from Learning, where Mr Peterson was clearly miles better than anything else. With this one it's the weak tracks that stand out, as most of it is so strong. Plaintive without being whiny, very Anthony-esque at points. Hood and No Tears are the best here
- Been meaning to listen to them for ages, ever since i saw them as a support act. Much more melodic than I remember, live it's all ACTION ACTION ACTION. Only got through the two EPs so far (Celebrate This Place is more consistent, We Shall Visit probably combines the two sides of their music best) so looking forward to trying out the album next week
a - Yup, getting better all the time
b - Picked this off a P4K recommendation, does "epic" and "lush" without being too overblown or conceited. Best 80s throwback I've heard in ages, though it does start to fade towards the end
- New album sounds pretty interesting, toned down the guitars a bit in favour of the electronics, to good effect
a - Just about lives up to all the love it gets on here. A bit too sprawling and unfocused in parts, but I haven't given it nearly enough time and the good stuff really caught my ear
b - Much better than the DiS review suggests. Yes, it may sounds quite a lot like Spiritualised, but the guy's voice makes it so much more relatable for me, and Jesus Christ is properly lovely
Phew. TOTW: Islet - We Shall Visit
