TRUCK: Line-Up News.
MYSTERY JETS headline, + VILLAGERS, 65 DAYS OF STATIC, GET CAPE...
Early Birds tickets Sold Out and The Barn stage is back.
Good morning! We promised to bring together all the best elements of Truck Festival through the years for this summer's 15th Anniversary event, and to kick things off we've signed up some exciting new stuff as well as some artists who have thrilled the Truck crowd in years gone by.
MYSTERY JETS will headline the main stage on Friday 20th July; since their previous headline Truck Festival appearance in 2006 they have proved their pop staying-power with a series of cracking and diverse releases - Making Dens, Twenty One (featuring the duet Young Love with Laura Marling), Serotonin, and the forthcoming LP Radlands, apparently recorded in a country house by the Colorado river near Austin, Texas - a long way from their starting point in Eel Pie Island. Welcome back, gentlemen!
65 DAYS OF STATIC are in on the act too; their recent career path has taken them all over the world and they've put out music in many innovative shapes, including their recent crowd-funded Silent Running album, released in November last year. It's live where they truly stand out and we can't wait to have them and at Truck 15.
VILLAGERS put out a great debut album, Becoming a Jackal, that came close to winning the Mercury Prize in 2010. The literacy and emotion of Conor O'Brien;'s voice and songs are immediately reminiscent of that other Conor (Oberst) in Bright Eyes - to these ears at least - and his excellent live band back them up very musically. Another classic band out of Ireland and we're very excited to have them at Truck.
GET CAPE. WEAR CAPE. FLY! is also back on the scene with a new album; Sam Duckworth and his band have appeared several times at Truck, from opening the main stage in his early days to closing it in 2009, and the new organisers are very pleased to welcome him along to Hill Farm. DOG IS DEAD, TELLISON, THEME PARK and BOAT TO ROW also join this exciting first batch of confirmations for Truck 15.
Early Bird tickets sold out last week; we'd like to thank everyone for the incredible show of support. General sale tickets are now available, priced at £69 for the weekend (including camping). There are no teen tickets or day tickets; just one standard price to keep things simple, and we guarantee there will be no late discounts. Under-12s go free. Buy yours from now www.truckfestival.com or at Truck Store, 101 Cowley Rd, Oxford. The new website should also be live at www.truckfestival.com any moment now.
You may have heard that the much-loved Barn stage will be back in action this year; The stage within it will now be powered by the impressive array of solar panels on its brand new roof, both of which were recently installed by the farm, making it the greenest cowshed in pop music history.
And finally... we'd like to thank the thousands (!) who voted and commented on our Facebook local bands competition; the response was so strong that we made three slots available instead of the planned one. Well done to winners YELLOW FEVER; we've also invited VERY NICE HARRY and FINE UNION to join us for Truck 15. Thank you to those who took part. Fear not if you didn't make the cut, there will be plenty of further opportunities for bands to apply to play at Truck 15; we will shortly announce a submission process shortly and will also have scouts at plenty of local shows.
