Bands who got better after losing a member
What established bands managed to survive losing/sacking a member and went on to make better music than before? I can't think of a huge number:
- Pink Floyd: There are quite a lot of people who'll argue that they never surpassed Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. It took them a few albums to find themselves again after leaving Syd behind, but I'd argue that the whole run of Dark Side Of The Moon-Wish You Were Here-Animals is superior.
- Mercury Rev: The albums with David Baker are great, but See You On The Other Side is sublime without the sprawl.
Anyone fancy saying the Manics or Joy Division?
