Having just knocked up a Seattle Grunge playlist ( http://open.spotify.com/user/digitaltenderness/playlist/1ANFj7HdruYwyBf0FUQuiH ) I thought I'd turn my attention to Boston for the same period. Like Seattle, Boston's scene seemed to emerge from hardcore punk but was much less influenced by metal than the Grunge sound. It was a tad more jangly, with an east-coast art-rock edge.
