Bad Timing - Put An Album In a Time Machine
Following on from the Cooper Temple Clause thread http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4325132 and various armchair theories that they would have been massive if they'd come on the scene post-Strokes, rather than in the debris of Brit-pop or if they'd been able to hang around as long as Biffy and picked up all the Snow Patrol-loving fair weather indie fans and aging My Chemical Romance kids... can you imagine if Cooper Temple Clause had dropped See This Through around the time Razorlight blew up and everyone was looking for a credible antithesis and all that got served up was White Lies?
I always wonder how big Symposium might've been if they'd come around post-Busted, when it seemed you couldn't move for 16 year olds in Greenday hoodies. I always remember that rubbish story about a certain music weekly refusing to cover Symposium because they once threw a snowball at the editor...
Similarly, do you think Fleetwood Mac would be anywhere near as huge if they released Rumours today?
