Would Pitchfork benefit from having more country specific writers?
Was just thinking having read reviews on the site for a long time and specifically having read The Big Pink album review it seems that they are intending to have a global level of coverage but without having writers in place who are familiar with the intentions and backgrounds of the bands they are reviewing.
In The Big Pink review it claims they are aspiring to Brit Pop in some manner which I am almost sure is inaccurate. This is not because I know The Big Pink but because I am aware from being in close proximity to the music scene in which they developed of both their backgrounds and of their tastes.
Maybe I am wide of the mark but surely its reviews would be better for having people who are more in tune with the climate in which the music is being made regardless if its a band from London or a techno producer from Berlin.
Does any of this make sense?
